A Home on Matemwe Beach, Built for Zanzibar
Zi Villa was the first house built here, right on Fisherman’s Cove on Zanzibar’s northeast coast, opposite the Mnemba Atoll, with the idea that a holiday in Zanzibar should feel like staying somewhere private rather than checking into a resort. Over the years we added Zi Beach Cottage, Zi Dhow Beach Cottage, Zi Loft Cottage and Zi Garden Room, smaller villas for couples and small families who wanted the same beach without needing quite so much space. Zivilla today is those five villas, one stretch of coastline, and a team who’s been looking after guests here for years.
Where We Are
Right on Fisherman's Cove, Facing the Mnemba Atoll
Matemwe is a quiet stretch of Zanzibar’s northeast coast, still used by local fishermen and a lot less built up than the southern beaches. Zivilla sits directly on Fisherman’s Cove, a few steps of white sand between you and the water, with the Mnemba Atoll and its reefs just a short boat ride away. Stone Town is close enough for a day trip whenever you feel like it, but most guests find they don’t want to leave the beach.
